Electric Dirt Bike Repair: Sur-Ron, Talaria & More
Own a Sur-Ron or Talaria around Frisco and you already know the problem: bike shops say “that’s not a bicycle,” powersports dealers say “that’s not a motorcycle,” and the manufacturer is an ocean away. Meanwhile the bike sits in the garage with a dead display and a teenager asking daily when it’ll be fixed.

Common problems
- Won’t power on, display errors, or cuts out mid-ride
- Brakes — these bikes are fast and heavy; pads, rotors, and hydraulic bleeds are the #1 job
- Chain, sprocket, and drivetrain wear (e-moto torque eats chains)
- Throttle and controller faults
- Battery diagnostics, charging issues, and pack health — 60V packs deserve extra respect
- Flat tires and tire swaps, loose spokes, bent bars, and general crash recovery
What to check first
- Kill switch, key and side-stand/brake interlocks — several e-motos won’t drive with a brake lever slightly pulled or a switch mid-position.
- Battery connector fully latched and the pack’s own gauge alive; charger light behavior.
- After a crash: anything bent, cracked, or pulled — especially cables at the motor and the battery case. Don’t ride a bike with a bent fork or cracked frame.
- Error code on the display: photograph it.
A note on modifications
We assess and recommend repairs and maintenance — we don’t provide controller unlocks or speed modifications for bikes ridden on public roads, and we won’t recommend bypassing safety sensors. Trail bikes stay trail-fast; that keeps everyone (including your insurance) happy.
